Roger Grimdark
Roger Sheldon Grimdark is a velociraptor and the deuteragonist of the Goth Gang segment of Outcasted. He is an amateur filmmaker who mostly utilizes clay models and puppets of various materials, while also occasionally working with live models. He is also a general STEAM field employee who enjoys tinkering and inventing things in his lab, cooking, and painting.
He enjoys the culture, entertainment, fashion, and paraphernalia of the 1940s and 1950s and employs it in his everyday life with a mix of more advanced technology. He also enjoys reading about paranormal phenomena, morbid tidings, and scientific discoveries and advancements. Roger also has a very special interest in the process of eating and digesting materials and has a lot of knowledge regarding this.
Conversely, Roger dislikes 21st-century culture, entertainment, fashion, and paraphernalia, getting into heated arguments, loud noises, overly bright colors, and blind optimism.
Appearance
Roger has long, straight rose-red hair that goes down to his shoulders, usually styled with long bangs that cover his left eye and corners of his face. His sclerae are a sand brown hue, and his irises are a dark hickory brown color. His teeth are a shade lighter than his sclerae and are all sharp. His face is typical of that of a velociraptor. His scales are cedar brown hue, his feathers are chocolate brown. His feathers cover parts of his face, though this is usually masked by his hair, and go from his neck to his upper elbows to above his knees, they also cover the upper side of his tail. His tail is long, straight, narrow, and has a large tuft of red feathers at the tip. He normally wears glasses and dark clothing that cover his arms and legs.
Roger is usually shown as clean-shaven, though it's been revealed in a few episodes that Roger regularly shaves his goatee that is the same color as his eyebrows. When he does not shave it, it sticks out of the corner of his lower jaw.
Roger can be described as macabre, solicitous, obsessive, strange, socially awkward, reclusive, prone to extreme mood swings, gloomy/sorrowful, usually pessimistic, sometimes showing optimism, having a somewhat surreal worldview, and constantly overthinking/overanalyzing. His sense of humor can be considered dry, morbid, and absurdist at many different times. He is considered to be of above-average intelligence. He considers himself to be an introvert and, while mostly pessimistic, an occasional optimist.
He always tries to tackle problems head-on if he considers it possible.
Politically, he's a moderate liberal/Democrat but likes to keep his views private due to fear of receiving backlash for them. He understands that politics tends to make people feel strong feelings and wish to avoid the subject altogether. When confronted with someone whose views differ from his, his reaction tends to depend from individual to individual. He tries to see everyone's point of view on things and study everyone's psychology in hopes that there can be a breakthrough and a compromise. He is particularly interested in learning about evolution, history, development, sexology, and anthropomorphic psychology.
He has problems making eye contact with others as he only makes eye contact with people he is comfortable with. He also has a bit of a stuttering problem and sometimes has issues trying to find the right words to express himself.
The year was 2001. Scientists created Roger and his cousin Dominick in a lab using the ancient DNA of extant birds. He wasn't made as a fully-formed infant, however. He started out as an egg, as did his cousin. They wouldn't hatch until 1 year later. The scientists eventually ceased receiving funding for this project, contributors questioned the ethics of bringing dinosaurs back to life, and thus, they abandoned them somewhere where they believed the two wouldn't be found by any passing civilian.
Roger and Dominick were dropped in 2 different spots, far away from each other, and thus were separated. The two share a double birthday, being created and hatched on the same day. Luckily enough, they were also found by 2 people who happened to be siblings and thus were able to meet again later in life. Roger's mother was an emu who was married to a male Sandhill crane. He had 2 siblings who happened to be a hybrid of the two species. He was the only dinosaur in his family, something he had taken notice of. He always wondered why he was the only member of his family that was a dinosaur, and why he never saw any other person of his own species. One day, though, his parents decided to tell him the truth, that his particular species had died off millions of years ago—they were extinct and he was created in a lab using their ancient DNA. He found it devastating at first but was also glad his parents had told him. It hit him hard for about a few hours, but eventually, he stopped feeling so sad about it. Instead, he was intrigued and wanted to learn more about dinosaurs in general and about other extinct species and how they got diminished.
At school, he had trouble making friends. He was considered an oddball for reasons unknown and nobody ever wanted to hang out with him. In his neighborhood, he had only 2 friends but they were usually spiteful toward him. He eventually developed more friends, however, they were only temporary. He was also considered a bit of an outcast, though people would occasionally talk to him at school. Eventually, his parents divorced after a very rough marriage and his father cheated on his mother for the final time and he, his mother, and his brothers were evicted from their home and were forced to live with his grandmother. His grandmother was very rough with him and his father had turned abusive as they both had to deal with Roger's diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder and his newfound mood swings. He had a lot of trouble befriending others in school and in his new neighborhood due to his newly developed violent tendencies. Of course, there were others who attempted to be kind to him. His violent outbursts pushed him out of school and into a crisis unit for 1 month where he was miserable but developed temporary friendships.

Roger can be considered an excellent chef, being able to appeal to the majority of people's tastes. He is competent enough to be able to start his own restaurant if he ever desired. However, he prefers to cook as a hobby and as a manner of sustaining himself, dedicating his professional life to science, drawing/painting, writing, and filmmaking.

Beckham Shepherd
Beckham "Becky" Shepherd is an Englishman who previously resided on a farm as a farmer. He migrated to the United States after his farmhand died. He is a recurring character of Outcasted and Roger's love interest. Beckham is an alcoholic when under stress, a massive foodie, and has a suppressed gag reflex. He is able to easily swallow many things that most would find extremely difficult, if not impossible, to swallow. He is also a very skilled musician, able to play several different types of instruments. His favorites are the piano and the flute. He currently works as a Ranch Manager and Fishery Manager.
Appearance
Beckham is a male anthropomorphic borzoi who is also mixed with golden retrievers, beagles, and bloodhounds and, as a result, share the golden fur of a golden retriever and the ears of a beagle in both shape and color. His ears are medium brown and floppy and the tip of his snout has various shades of medium grayish brown streaks. He has dark brown eyes with eyelids and lines around his eyes that are the same color as his ears. Beckham stands at 5'6" and weighs 145 lbs. He can be considered of an average male body type but with a small potbelly. When nude, he has various brown spots all over his body that are large and cylindrical in shape. His most prominent ones are the large circular spot on his chest and upper abdomen and the slightly smaller one on his middle back. He has medium-sized spots on his shoulders, forearm, biceps, thighs, calves, shins, and lower abdomen, and a small one between the abdomen and chest.
Before he has children with Roger, he wears a long-sleeved pumpkin orange knit sweater, an open red parka with brown fur, dark grey pants, black military boots, and a brown newsboy cap with dark brown hounds tooth patterns. After he has children, he wears the same orange knitted sweater but with a black trench coat, darker grey pants, black military boots, and the same newsboy cap.
Beckham was born to Charles Shepherd and Amelia Shepherd (nee: Bonesworth). He is the youngest of their 4 children. Beckham's parents are conservative and staunchly against the LGBT community which posed difficulties for young Beckham, who happened to be strictly homosexual. Beckham attempted to conceal his attraction toward males and attempted to conceal his explorations with boys his age from them, but eventually, he was caught one day. He attempts to state that they were simply wrestling, but his parents could barely believe him when they saw that they were getting undressed. It wasn't until Beckham was 15 when, over dinner, he told his parents the truth—that he was homosexual. Despite their teachings, Beckham's siblings did not mind this, but his parents were extremely upset about this ordeal. They took to dealing with this behavior with physical abuse, menial tasks, and the withholding of food until he decided he was "ready" to date girls his age instead. Shortly before turning 16, Beckham had revealed that he was in a (surreptitiously falsified) relationship with a nearly 16-year-old Saluki girl he had met named Susanna "Susie" Salisbury which caused his parents to feel satisfied with him. He planned to "date" her until he graduated from university and was able to become financially independent from his parents. Unfortunately, his parents would routinely demand evidence that he was, in fact, in love with her by asking him to kiss her, caress her, grope her, and display other forms of physical affection toward her. Shortly before he graduated from university at the age of 20, he admitted that he was, in fact, a homosexual man and not in love with Susie. His parents feigned acceptance toward their son's confession and sexual orientation, but when Beckham wanted to return home to see his family again, he found that all of the locks were modified and that he wasn't provided a new key to open the doors. His parents soon informed him that he was no longer allowed inside their house as he was disowned by them for being homosexual.
Eventually, however, Beckham inherited the family's farm as his parents were approaching their mid-60s and wished to retire from farm duties and their other children harbored different career choices of their own and declined the inheritance of the family's farm, of which Beckham was the only one who expressed interest in it. His farm duties lasted approximately 1 year as Beckham moved to the United States after his farmhand died by being trampled on by multiple elephants during a vacation to Africa, and his boyfriend, Shelby, severs their relationship due to a lack of passion in their relationship and Shelby catching himself experiencing romantic and sexual sentiments for another man.
He eventually meets Roger while moving into Hellvane, Pennsylware while boarding the same bus as him and coincidentally sitting next to him on the bus. Roger ends up experiencing romantic sentiments toward him while conversing with him on the bus ride, despite Roger not wishing to converse with him due to his introverted nature earlier on in the conversation. Beckham is not able to grasp Roger's lack of interest and Roger corresponds out of politeness while slowly becoming interested in the conversation. After a lengthy platonic companionship with romantic tension rising, Roger ends up in a relationship with Beckham.
Backstory
Beckham is very empathetic with others. Whenever someone is in peril, emotionally or physically, he tries his best to brainstorm a solution to their problems. He does not like seeing people in pain unless he truly believes they deserve it. That said, he also cares quite an abundance about his own mental health and will not hesitate to prioritize that above that of others. Whenever dealing with someone who attempts to aggravate him, he is quick to utilize his sharp, quick-witted tongue to bring it right back at them. If necessary, he will also respond with whatever physical action he deems proper.
Beckham has a love of being in control of things. He will not stop until he either gets his way or he reaches a proper compromise. Despite this, he is mostly known for his phlegmatic manner of speech, usually speaking somewhat monotonously.
Becky also has a sense of morbidity. He enjoys telling morbid stories, even to little children, frequently plans on murdering and eating people who frustrate him beyond means, enjoys pranking children by telling them that he has murdered other children, and eating bloodied meat that he convinces them are the remains of the children he's murdered (doing similar to parents of children he's babysat, where he convinces them that he's murdered and eaten their children before revealing that their children are still alive), and frequently threatens people to treat them in intensely violent manners if they enrage him enough.
